A 2 day training on “Monitoring and Evaluation: Tools and Methodologies” June 19-20, 2014

Introduction With the exceptional need to make projects effectively managed and well directed and to ensure the project staff is cognizant with the essential skills of monitoring and evaluation, this course is a must, particularly for development projects! In development sector, projects’ success relies on understanding and utilization of Monitoring and Evaluation Techniques. This course is not designed on traditional theoretical connotations but practical tools will be shared along with information and skills on how to design these tools. This training is an essential career oriented milestone for all those who are engaged in program management side, research, monitoring and evaluation side, training and human resource management side. We will transfer the basic and advance skills that are vital for each cycle of the project management with real scenario created for projects. Module I • Introduction to Monitoring and Evaluation • Difference between monitoring and evaluations • Understanding M&E in the context of: o Outputs, outcomes and impacts o Linking different project stages with M&E o Adapting need based M&E framework o Implementation plans and M&E o Data collection, monitoring (Baselines, midlines and end-lines) • Result Based Monitoring and Evaluation • Key Performance Indicators • Determination, operationalisation, definition and calculation of project indicators • Sources of Information, Primary and Secondary Data • Log Frame Analysis Module II • Developing a Monitoring and Evaluation Plan o Development of M&E tools, o Sampling Techniques and Data collection methodologies o Data Analysis and reporting o Communicating M&E results with partners o Evaluating projects’ success o Qualitative methods and quantitative methods o Collecting, compiling and reporting M&E data in a multi-sectoral consortium o Triangulation of Data • Project outcomes and sustainability • Measuring project outcomes from project indicators Training Dates: The training will hold from June 19-20, 2014 at Islamabad.
